A Great Night, A Great Cause!

Holiday By The Sea held on November 22, 2014 was a tremendous success! The event kicked off with Hawaii's award-winning DJ Tiger of Tiger Jones Productions. Upbeat music greeted guests as they arrived and perused crafts from local vendors.

As dinner was being served, a local plate made by Don The Beachcomber Restaurant, local artist Pomaika`i Brown took the stage and serenaded us with his Island Contemporary style.

Bula Akamu next took the stage and shared his original music before being joined by his Ukulele Ensemble from Kahakai Elementary. It was a tremendous treat to see the keiki on stage and sharing their growing knowledge and passion for music.

Te `E`a O Te Turama, under the direction of Maile and Kawika Tavares, wowed us with the songs and dances of Polynesia including the exciting Samoan fireknife dance to close the event.

Several attendees walked away with great items from our silent auction including locally made crafts and activity and hotel-stay certificates. It was truly a special evening of the community coming together for a great cause, enjoying `ono food and entertainment all with the backdrop of a gorgeous Kona sunset and the bright night sky.

The event was very successful raising a total of $4,272.66. Royal Kona Resort was proud to contribute a grand total of 13,758.66 to the 37th annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk, which was held on May 9, 2015.

All in all Big Island hotels raised $212, 596.97 for the Big Island Community with funds being distributed to applying non-profit organizations including Arc of Kona, Catholic Charities, Family Programs of Hawaii, Food Basket, Habitat for Humanity, Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. and many more.
