Hawai`i Visitor Industry Charity Walk

The annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk, founded in 1978, is Hawaii's largest single-day fundraising event by a non-profit organization. Since its inception, more than $26 million has been raised to support hundreds of local charities throughout the state. The Charity Walk is traditionally held every May on the islands of Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai and Oahu. The monies raised on a particular island/county remain on that island/county.

The Visitor Industry Charity Wak has always been about helping others, about supporting our local charities that help to make a difference in the lives of so many people. Each year, local charities that are qualified 501(c)3 non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for funding. Corporations, associations, foundations, schools, and other organizations may also submit applications.

All funds received by non-profit groups from the Charity Walk must be spent within the State of Hawaii to benefit residents of the county in which the funds were raised. Allocations will be considered on the basis of the donation's impact and may vary in amount. Allocations from the Charity Walk must be considered complete funding for any approved project and are not a guarantee of continued funding. Charities are not pre-selected prior to the Walk. Applications will be available online at http://hawaiilodging.org/ beginning March 1st of each year. Charity Walk funding applications are updated annually.
